Victor Cordero is considered to be an inter-culturalism artist. His paintings are characterized by different cultures and expressed with a variety of ethnic forms;
Cordero’s educated perception investigates cultures and anthropology over time.

Cordero’s paintings are influenced by different genres such as cubism; However,  one can sense a domination of impressionism.

While female figures are the center of his work, there is a strong presence of the background. The dialog between the figures and the background composes his paintings.

Cordero’s attention to colors is bold and sensual; he uses strong and stimulating combinations of prime colors in his paintings .

Cordero graduated in drawing and sculpture at San Alejandro Plastic Arts Academy. He is a member of the National Union of Writers and Artist of Cuba (UNEAC)

He taught for more than 10 years at the Leonardo Luberta Vocational Art School and at the Wilfredo Lam Academy of Plastic Arts, both on the Isle of Youth.
Cordero had an outstanding work as a jury in the municipal classrooms of plastic arts “Pablo Porras Gener”, of the young plastic of the AHS and of students of the Academy of plastic arts Wilfredo Lam and others. All on the Isle of Youth.

Reviews

“Cordero presents the female figure as the primordial center of her work, using it as a formal and conceptual pretext, seeking to reveal an image that communicates and dialogues with the objective spectator.

In this artist the images, pictorial compositions, are constantly recreated from the incorporation and appropriation of different artistic movements from pop art, impressionism, expressionism, art nouveau, cubism, surrealism, among other artistic heritages. In this way, each element acquires new relationships of meaning by leaving its original context. He tries to give twists to hackneyed elements, in function of a pictorial discourse reordered from his creative perspective. He then dominates an ambiguous plastic and conceptual space where objects have an iconographic and symbolic character. “

According to Marcello Carlino, art critic and professor at the University of Rome.

Expressionism is precisely the dominant note… there is an intertextual adventure between the multiple traditions of the languages of art, enriched in the intercultural terrain of dialogue, with the language that is proper to the Caribbean painter and bears the mark of his land, Cordero is a European painter of Cuba and a Cuban painter of Europe, and here is the attraction and the value of his work”.
The informal experimentation of color constitutes the decisive accent for his work. Hence the different variants on certain ideas, compositions or motifs that have female figuration as their center, which does not imply monotony or repetition, saved from a formal and technical richness related to the graphic lineage, which testifies to his foray into cartoons, comics and posters: “Give to get” has been a constant in the conceptual discourse, taken to different media and techniques such as painting, drawing, collage, installation, ceramics. Give to get” is very relative and has to do with interpersonal and social relationships….. (says the artist).
